Well, I can honestly say last week was definitely my…. “That was the week that was!” I had my first email hacking experience which ended with both the Police and local Press being involved. Whilst my email being hacked was a dreadful but not unheard of experience, the RESPONSE FROM GOOGLE was just PATHETIC! See the full story at www.bucksfreepress.co.uk. In short, despite making attempts to contact them immediately when I found out and filling in the necessary form, they did not do anything for at least 48 if not 72 hours in which time a lovely client had wired the requested money! If my email could have blocked within 12 hours of my notifying them, no money would have been sent. They do not offer you an option stating you have been hacked as Yahoo do, instead they offer you a recovery link which was not responded to within 24 hours as they suggest. In the meantime I was with my client whilst the hacker was emailing her and no-one, me, the Police or Google could do anything about it!! So, Google email users BE VERY CAREFUL! Make your password as complicated as you can, lots of upper and lower case and letters. Incidently, some people have commented in the press article asking was I in an internet cafe in Spain and left my account open and was my password weak. No to both. Despite the hacker using Madrid in the email he was actually in the USA and no internet cafe’s from me on the cruise!
Onto a more pleasant subject, I heard Jilly Cooper in an interview today using a lovely metaphor in relation to marriage. She said “marriage can be long…..so I look on it that the 2 of you are setting off on a journey in a little rowing boat and you see some beautiful skies and sunsets, amazing panoramic views but you have to weather some horrific storms.” I guess she must know as she is celebrating her golden wedding anniversary!!
